Richard has been a pilot since high school and flown almost everywhere in the world, accumulating 8,500 hours of flight time. He holds an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate and has taught flying since college. He has a Masters Degree in Education from Old Dominion University and holds a teachers certificate for Washington State. He is Chief Instructor for Northway Aviation, located at Paine Field, Everett, WA. Richard is the father of Carli Newman, cancer patient at Children's Hospital.

Richard's six-year-old daughter Carli has spent two years in treatment for lymphoblastic lymphoma. She is the creator of our banner art, the Kaitlin Jet.

Dan is a longtime Northwest native and software engineer. In 2006 he fulfilled a lifelong dream to become a pilot, flew with Richard on several progress check flights during the training program, and scared the pants off of him ONLY once or twice.
